After a few low number days Monday to Wednesday, the Niagara Region has jumped right back up with 26 new COVID-19 cases today (October 22).
And with just 17 cases resolved, that pushes the ongoing cases in the region to 147. Earlier this week, it was as low as 122.
Right now, there are 11 patients in the area’s hospitals, all of whom caught the Delta variant. Five are in the ICU, none of them vaccinated.
St. Catharines continues to have the majority of cases with 64 or 44 per cent of the cases region-wide. Niagara Falls has 24 while Grimsby has 17.
The remaining nine municipalities range from Pelham with zero cases up to Welland and Fort Erie with nine each.
