Niagara Region reported 26 new cases of COVID-19 with 29 cases being resolved. That drops the region to 236 active cases.
While it could be some time before single-digit case days of late July and early August, the heavy vaccination levels during these Delta Variant Days have clearly played a role in keeping the region’s number much lower than they were during the April-May spikes.
On April 15, the region saw 220 new cases – in one day. At least now it takes a week to get that many.
Niagara Falls continues to lead the caseload with 66 existing as St Catharines has 57. Following that Welland has 33 cases to Thorold’s 21.
The remaining eight municipalities run from the low end with Pelham at one case up to Fort Erie with 16.
