Niagara Region sees 18 new COVID-19 cases today, 13 people in hospital

There were 18 new cases of COVID-19 in the Niagara Region today (October 5) but with 28 resolved cases, the number of existing cases dropped to 241 in total.
Presently, there are 13 people being treated in Niagara hospital with two being in the ICU. Only one of them has been vaccinated.
As it has been since mid-August, all the cases in Niagara are the Delta variant with nine per cent being the strain and the other 91 per cent “likely” to be.
NIagara Falls continues to be the hardest-hit at 64 existing cases with St Catharines not far at 61.
Both Welland and Fort Erie have 26 cases while Thorold has 18 and Wainfleet has 12.
The remaining six municipalities run from zero cases in Pelham to eight in Grimsby.
