There were 41 new cases of COVID-19 in the Niagara Region over the weekend (September 25-26) and while that’s hardly ideal, it is a healthy step down from last weekend’s (September 18-19) total of 64.

With 24 new cases on Saturday and another 17 on Sunday, the region’s total cases sit at 233. There were no deaths recorded this weekend.

The Delta variant continues to dominate the case numbers with 14 per cent known to be the strain and 86 per cent suspected to be.

Niagara Falls continues the lead the caseload with 70, followed by St Catharines at 55. Welland recorded 31 while Thorold has 15.

The remaining eight municipalities run from Wainfleet with three cases up to Fort Erie with 13.
