Niagara Region sees 42 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend

The Delta variant of COVID-19 continues to sweep through the Niagara Region as 42 new cases were recorded on the weekend (August 28-29).

That left Niagara sitting with 167 unresolved cases, the highest number since mid-June.

While 8.8 per cent are identified as the Delta variant, Niagara Health reports the other 91.2 per cent are “likely” Delta.

St Catharines continues to be the top number in cases with 61, followed by Niagara Falls with 36. Welland, Thorold and Lincoln are all in the teens with  17, 14 and 13 cases respectively.

Wainfleet is the only municipality with zero cases while the remaining six municipalities are registering between two and seven cases each.
