One more death, 25 new COVID-19 death today in Niagara Region

There was one more death and 25 new cases of COVID-19 listed today (October 6) in the Niagara Region.

With 35 cases resolved, it dropped the region to 230 existing cases but sadly last night’s death marks the 13th in Niagara since September 1. The region has seen 434 deaths since March 2020.

The Delta variant continues to be the only strain at play in Niagara as eight per cent of cases are the strain while the remaining 92 per cent is “likely” to be Delta.

St Catharines has, for the first time in a month, pushed past Niagara Falls as the caseload leader with 58 cases while the latter has 52.

Fort Erie, Welland and Thorold has 29, 25 and 22 active cases respectively.

The remaining seven municipalities range between Pelham with zero cases and 12 in Wainfleet.
