OPP charge Niagara officer for alleged attempts to collect unused prescription medication

While the details are somewhat sparse, the OPP have charged a uniformed female Niagara police officer for allegedly trying to collect “unused pharmaceutical drugs prescription medication” from people in Lincoln.
Niagara Police first became aware of the reports of a “suspicious person” in Lincoln back in December and asked the OPP to investigate so that there was no “potential or perceived conflict of interest.”
There was no mention in the report as to whether the officer was going to homes or simply approaching individuals.
Today (May 19), Niagara Police Constable Wendy Cools-Lartigue was charged breach of trust and attempt to defraud the public
She was released from custody on an undertaking and has a June 19 date at the courthouse in St. Catharines.
Cools-Lartigue has been a police officer with the Niagara Police for 12 years and was on-duty at the time of the alleged offences. In accordance with the Police Services Act of Ontario, she has been suspended with pay.
