UPDATE: Person with weapon causes road closure in St. Catharines

UPDATE: Police arrested 28-year-old Rory Docherty of St. Catharines after he threatened his property manager with a knife and refused to surrender to police for 12 hours.

Niagara Regional Police close a roadway in St. Catharines due to a situation involving a person with a weapon in the area.
Geneva St. between North St. and Welland Ave. is closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Members of the Emergency Task Unit as well as crisis negotiators are currently on scene working to bring this situation to a peacefully conclusion.
Police say they are standing by to reopen the roadway as soon as they are able.
