Police bust Welland man who intentionally drove into motorcyclist

Niagara Police have charged a Welland man after he intentionally drove into a motorcyclist using a stolen car.
Yesterday (May 4) at 1:45 pm, police were called to the scene of an accident at the intersection of Regional Road 24 (Victoria Avenue) and Regional Road 27 in Wainfleet.
When they arrived, they found the injured motorcyclist and immediately had EMS take him to the hospital. He suffered non-life threating injuries.
They determined the motorcyclist was intentionally struck by the suspect, who was driving a stolen 2017 Toyota Corolla that also had stolen licence plates.
Jason Marttila, 48, of Welland has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and mischief over $5,000
He was been held in custody pending a bail hearing at the courthouse in St. Catharines.
