Police find truck but not driver from hit-and-run in Niagara-on-the-Lake

The Niagara Police have found the truck but not the driver involved in a July 13 hit-and-run in Niagara-on-the-Lake that left an 84-year-old man riding a bicycle in the hospital.
However, not only have the police found the truck they believe was involved, they have also recreated the route the driver took after the accident that left the elderly man in serious but stable condition.
Police say after the collision, which happened at about 7:50 pm, the pewter coloured 1999 GMC Sierra pick-up truck that they have seized took off turning onto southbound Concession 2 Rd. It travelled to York Rd. where it turned west into the St. Davids area.
Once in St. Davids, the GMC turned south onto Four Mile Creek Rd. and headed into the City of Niagara Falls.
As well, the truck has been repaired after the hit-and-run. Using used GMC auto parts, the repairs included a grill, passenger side headlights, and a passenger side towing side view mirror.
To that end, police are reaching out to auto part recycling businesses or wreck yards in the Niagara area to report any similar sales of used GMC auto parts since July 13, as well as body shops in the area that potentially did the repairs to a pewter coloured 1999 GMC pick up truck.
As well, they are asking any residents or businesses along the route described above with closed circuit security cameras, doorbell video cameras, or dash cameras if they can review their footage for the pewter colored 1999 GMC Sierra pickup truck for the period between 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm.
Finally, since they now have the truck and will have their Forensic Unit combing through it, they are asking the driver to contact a lawyer “and arrange for a safe and peaceful surrender.”
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the investigating officers by calling 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009089.
