Usually, they’re after cash but a Thorold gas station employee was held at knifepoint by a suspect who wanted nicotine vape pods.

On July 28, police landed at a Petro Canada gas station at 1809 Merrittville Hwy and Hwy 20 and discovered a lone masked male came into the gas station kiosk armed with a knife.

The robber threatened the employee and demanded two STLTH nicotine vape pods ($34) before taking off on foot. The employee was not injured.

Police brought in the K9 unit to track the area. The dog found the mask and bandana the suspect was wearing, but not the suspect.

The suspect is described as a white male, 25 to 35 years old, about 6-foot, a medium build and appeared to have brown hair beneath the bandana.

His clothing is described as dark blue bandana with a white pattern, a purple, blue, red, green, and yellow Halloween-style plastic face mask, wearing a plain yellow/orange t-shirt, black athletic shorts with a white logo that appeared to be Adidas and slide-style flip flops that were black with a white Air Jordan logo.
