Niagara Police are looking for a man who picked up a Lincoln hitchhiker, dropping him off in Grimsby just before a stabbing incident.
On May 13, the suspect was hitchhiking on King St. near Thirty Rd in Beamsville at 9:30 am. The driver then took him to Main St. East and Baker Rd. North area in Grimsby.
Shortly afterwards, police were called to a dispute in the Central Ave. and Lynnwood Ave. area of Grimsby, hearing that two men were fighting outside a home.
When they arrived, they found a 41-year-old woman suffering from serious knife wounds. Niagara EMS and Grimsby Fire quickly tended to her, shuttling her to an out-of-town hospital. She has since been released and is recovering at home.
Police realizing the two men fighting were the suspect and a good Samaritan, who heard the attack and came running to help. They also determined that the suspect and victim were known to one and other.
Allan Timko, 70, of Beamsville has been charged with attempted murder.
However, police are now trying to identify the person and vehicle that provided Timko a ride. They have reason to believe the vehicle was possibly a van or SUV driven by a white male 65-70 years old.
Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives by calling 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009023.
