Police raid St. Catharines ‘magic mushroom’ shop, charge employee

Niagara Police raided a downtown St. Catharines shop, well-known for selling “magic mushrooms” as a powder or in tablets, and charged an employee for precisely that.

Fun Guyz, a chain that actually bills itself as a “magic mushroom dispensary,” has been targeted in locations across the province by numerous police forces.

Yesterday (August 2), the police served a search warrant on the St. Catharines location at 73 St Paul St and seized 2,119 grams of suspected psilocybin (the hallucinogenic ingredient in magic mushrooms), as well as $1,555.

The value of the seized psilocybin is $21,190. One employee was charged.

Carli Dawn Alicia Summers, 31, of St. Catharines has been charged with possession of crime cash under $5,000, possession of illegal drugs for trafficking and trafficking psilocybin.

She was released from custody with a date at the courthouse in St. Catharines on September 14.
