Niagara Regional Police ask for the public’s help identifying three suspects after a gas station was robbed at gunpoint in Grimsby.
At approximately 4:40 a.m. this morning (Aug 1) police responded to a Petro Canada gas station at 424 South Service Rd. between Industrial Dr. and Casablanca Blvd. after reports of a robbery in progress.
After speaking with the lone employee, officers learned that three suspects entered the gas station and demanded cash, threatening the employee.
One suspect was armed with a black handgun, and another is reported to have had a can of bear spray.
Police say the employee feared for their life and ran for the exit. That’s when the suspect armed with a handgun fired one shot at them as they attempted to flee the store.
The bullet missed the employee and struck a wall inside the gas station. The employee was not physically injured.
Police obtained detailed video footage from the surveillance cameras at the gas station.
The suspects are believed to have arrived and fled in a red Hyundai vehicle, possibly an Elantra. Specific descriptors of the vehicle are tinted windows, bright fog lights, and a spare “donut” tire on the rear driver’s side.
An initial investigation has discovered that the suspects first drove by the gas station at approximately 4:30 a.m. shortly before the robbery.
Suspect one is described as a white male, 5’9”, with a slender to medium build. He was armed with the black handgun and wearing a black “Zoo York” brand hooded sweatshirt with large green print, black Puma track pants, black and white gloves, and black high-top sneakers with white lettering.
Suspect two is described as a white male, 6-foot, with a medium build and brown hair. He was carrying a can of bear spray and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with large black print on the front, black Nike track pants, and black Nike slide sandals with black socks.
Suspect three is described as a white person of an unknown gender. They’re 5’5” with a slender build and had on a black hooded sweatshirt with a small Nike logo on the upper left chest, grey track pants, and black and white high-top Nike sneakers.
Police say the investigation is in its early stages. Anyone who recognizes one of the suspects or the car from the included photos should not approach or confront the suspects and immediately call Niagara Regional Police detectives at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009336.
