The Belmont Bar and Grill in Port Colborne is hoping for an exemption to turn up the volume on Friday and Saturday nights through the summer.

When the Port Colborne City Council holds its June 14 Council meeting at 6:30 pm, there will be a Spinal Tap-ish request before them. Someone is looking to turn up the volume.

The Belmont Bar and Grill, located at 175 King Street, will be asking for a Noise Variance Request for Friday and Saturday nights throughout the entire summer.

The bar wants to bring in live bands and DJ music with equipment onto their back outdoor patio behind the building every Friday from May 27 to September 2 from 8 pm to 2 am and every Saturday from May 28 to September 3 from 8 pm to 2 am.

Any person who doesn’t like the sound of, well, louder sounds or conversely is all in can submit written comments or objections, please email them to [email protected] by noon on Friday, June 10.

Anyone who wishes to ‘sound off’ at the meeting must pre-register with the Deputy Clerk. Delegation requests to speak to the Noise Variance must also be received by noon on June 10 by emailing [email protected] or calling 905-835-2900 x115.

Delegates may appear virtually or in person.  Written submissions can also be submitted to the mail slot, located at the front-left of City Hall, 66 Charlotte Street.
