Port Colborne man busted for having a sawed-off shotgun

A Port Colborne man has been charged for illegally possessing a double-barreled sawed-off shotgun and a large supply of ammo.
Niagara Police investigated a detached garage-turned-residence Steele Street near Helen Street and with the Emergency Task Unit along for the search on July 27, they went to the location where they found the man and a loaded double barrel, sawed off Centaure 12-gauge shotgun laying on the floor and ammo on a table.
When they searched him, they also found a prohibited switchblade knife tied to his belt. (See photo above.)
Shane Andrew Thomson, 51, of Port Colborne has been charged with:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Firearm
- Careless Storage of a Prohibited Firearm
- Possession Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of Prohibited Weapon
He was held in custody for a video bail hearing that took place at the courthouse in St. Catharines on July 28.
