Prepare for a very noisy day at Niagara Falls tomorrow

Residents and visitors to Niagara Falls should be prepared to hear loud noises as the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) is set to conduct a training tomorrow (Oct. 19).

The NRPS Emergency Task Unit will be engaged in an indoor/outdoor training exercise between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Stanley Avenue, close to Livingston Street.

During this training, people can expect to hear the sound of simulated gunshots, creating a loud and potentially startling environment in the area.

However, it’s important to note that these gunshots are part of the training simulation and do not represent any immediate danger to the public.

The NRPS will also have an increased police presence with additional officers, vehicles, and equipment in the area, all dedicated to facilitating the training exercise.

Police will place visible signage in the area to notify residents and visitors about the training event.

Despite the loud nature of the training exercise, police say that traffic in the immediate area won’t be substantially impacted, allowing for the usual flow of vehicles in the vicinity.

For the safety of all involved, “the public and media are asked to stay away from the training site,” NPRS said in their press release.
