It’s been a while but public skating is finally back at the Gale Centre on Sunday afternoons from 2 to 3:50 p.m. for the 2021-2022 season.
However, reservations must be made and can only be done online through the City’s new recreation booking site, http://Niagara Falls ACTIVE Net.
The city says space is limited each week to the first 75 skaters who register online. If they follow COVID-19 protocols on distancing and masks, parents may watch young children from the stands.
The Gale Centre now accepts cash and debit payments at the customer service desk. The costs are:
- Families $7 (up to five members)
- Seniors $3
- Students/Children $3
- Adults $3.75
To help keep our public skating program safe and fun for everyone, skate patrollers will be on the ice each Sunday. They are there to ensure the following:
- Helmets are required for all participants age 15 and under (CSA approved hockey helmets are recommended)
- No skating aids, chairs, sleds, pylons, hockey sticks, pucks or other potential obstructions are permitted on the ice during public skates
- No personal instruction is allowed during public skates
