RCMP identify remains of missing Niagara Falls man, gone since 2011

RCMP have used their advanced DNA program to identify the remains of a body discovered at Sir Adam Beck Generating Station last November.

The generating station is 10 km north of Niagara Falls and it turned out the remains were that of a Niagara Falls man missing since 2011.

The deceased, whose name is being withheld at the request of family, was reported missing in early September 2011.

RCMP were able to match the DNA using a human femur that was recovered by maintenance staff at the generating station to a sample provided by the man’s mother.

“This missing person investigation has been on-going for the greater part of the past decade and has left the mother of the deceased devastated, wondering if she would ever find her son again,” said Niagara Police Det. Const. Sara Mummery in a release.
