Record Store Day is upon us once more as independent record stores around the world celebrate brick-and-mortar music stores and the magic of vinyl tomorrow (April 23).

The one-day event – billed as the largest single-day music event in the world – started in the U.S. in 2007 and has grown to include thousands of stores around the globe, with special releases, in-store gigs and even street parties the order of the day.

This year’s ambassador for Record Store Day is Taylor Swift and special releases and exclusives include We Die Young from Alice in Chains, Bad Company’s Live 1979 (in opaque orange), two unreleased EPs from the late, great David Bowie and The Lakes, from Swift.

St. Catharines record store Mindbomb Records (27 James St) and Niagara Falls record store Electronic Depot (3701 Portage Rd Unit 4B) will both be taking part in the festivities and it is recommended you arrive early to ensure you get the release you have your eyes on.

SRC Vinyl (14 Henegan Rd, Niagara on the Lake) didn’t answer their phone but will likely be taking place, too.
