Regional officials want to know how Niagara residents are consuming their cannabis and alcohol

A  public survey has launched in Niagara asking residents about their experiences with cannabis and alcohol.

The survey, posted today (Oct. 28), is part of the larger mechanism that is the Niagara Region Substance Use Strategy, a regional project built to assess public consumption of cannabis and alcohol over the next two years.

The incentive, which launched in May of this year, has been built to apply numerous strategies that will help dial into potential public health needs — as both cannabis and alcohol products are becoming increasingly available through new provincial policies.

The survey, which is available for public use, is accessible to all Niagara Region residents above 16 years of age and asks questions surrounding personal relationships with cannabis and alcohol alongside corresponding perceptions of both substances.

With a Dec. 2026 completion date, the Substance Use Strategy plans to use the information collected by the survey —  and future research — to implement and evaluate community monitoring strategies.
