Shooting at a home reported in Niagara Region

A home was shot multiple times in Niagara Region Sunday night.

The shooting was reported at a home in the McAlpine Avenue and Lincoln Street area of Welland around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Niagara Regional Police said on Monday.

A man fired multiple gunshots at a home, police said.

Police said there were no injuries in the shooting.

Detectives believe this was a targeted shooting.

Jacob O’Neal, 36, of Port Colborne was arrested and charged with discharge a firearm into/at a place in a reckless manner, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing it’s possession is unauthorized, careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose, possession of a weapon contrary to prohibition order (two counts), breach of probation (two counts) and fail to comply with release order.

O’Neal was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
