St Catharines university finishes first for mental health support programs in national magazine’s annual rankings

When Maclean’s magazine released its 2022 University Rankings yesterday (October 7), Brock University in St Catharines collected the No. 1 ranking among all comprehensive universities in Canada for mental health support programs for the fourth straight year.
After that, Brock also finished first in Ontario and third across Canada for student satisfaction.
As well, there was no shortage of seconds through fifths. The university finished second in academic advising; extracurricular activities, administrative staff and academic advisors.
Brock finished third for residence living and student life staff; fourth for steps to prevent sexual assault, as well as promoting Indigenous visibility and fifth for experiential learning.
The magazine’s rankings, which lists some of Canada’s best programs, saw Brock improve three spots on the education category to be ranked 12th in the country while the Nursing program was ranked 19th.
In explaining its criteria, the magazine says universities are broken into three categories – Undergraduate universities, Comprehensive universities (Brock’s category) and Medical Doctoral universities.
The magazine added an important element to the overall assessment is the student satisfaction survey, which weighs in at 10 per cent. They added they surveyed thousands of students online, asking them about their experience on campus. In the end, more than 19,000 students responded to the 10 questions that make up the indicator.
