When Brock University students, faculty and staffers returned to campus today (September 13) for the first time of the academic year, they brought some impressive numbers with them.

The St Catharines university said that 95 per cent of all students returning today have been vaccinated. Of that number, 92 per cent are fully vaccinated and eight per cent are single dose with their second scheduled.

Faculty and school staffers have a rate of 91 per cent vaccinated. From that, 96 per cent are fully-vaxxed while four per cent have had one jab with a second scheduled.

Both numbers are well above the Niagara Region figures, as well as the provincial and federal counts.

“Once again, our community shows that they care about each other and are doing their part to ensure a healthy and safe return,” Interim Brock University President Lynn Wells told the online campus paper The Brock News.

“Thank you to everyone for working together so that the University can fulfil its mandate of providing high-quality teaching and learning for students, enabling leading-edge research and engaging with its community.”
