St. Catharines and Niagara Falls have 4 areas reporting some of the highest COVID-19 rates

Areas of St. Catharines and Niagara Falls are among those with the highest COVID-19 percent positivity rates (percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in the area) in Ontario.
Toronto-based research group ICES listed postal code areas in Ontario with the highest percent positivity rates for the week of September 12 to 18.
Of the top 50 listed, four are in the Niagara region:
L2P at 8.82% (St. Catharines)
7th highest positivity in Ontario
L2T at 8.11% (St. Catharines)
9th highest positivity in Ontario
L2J at 7.69% (Niagara Falls)
10th highest positivity in Ontario
L2G at 5.21% (Niagara Falls)
44th highest positivity in Ontario
For the week of September 12 to 18, Niagara region had the third highest COVID-19 positivity out of Ontario’s 34 public health units, with 3.72% positivity. Ontario overall ranked 12th at 2.64% positivity.

For all Ontario residents, the overall percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of September 12 was 2.6%, down 0.8% from the previous week.
Ontario has reached 80% vaccine coverage of at least one dose and 74% coverage for both doses.
