St Catharines man arrested for break-and-enters in Niagara Falls, Thorold

A St Catharines man was charged by Niagara Police for three separate break-and-enters in Niagara Falls and Thorold over the months of August and September.
Police were investigating three separate crime, involving:
- An August 8, 2021, mid-day theft of approximately $11,400 in building supplies from a construction site in the area of Garner Road and McLeod Road in Niagara Falls.
- An August 31, 2021, overnight break and enter to a residence on Montrose Road near Biggar Road in Niagara Falls, where over $25,000 worth of property was stolen.
- A September 2, 2021, break and enter to a commercial property on Allanport Road near Turner Road in Thorold where items were stolen.
Yesterday (September 9), detectives executed search warrants on Vine Street South in St. Catharines and seize items related to the above incidents.
At the time of his arrest, police said the suspect was found to be in possession of suspected cocaine.
David Melvin Simms, 56, of St. Catharines has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, theft over $5000, break and enter and possession of an illegal substance.
