Count St Catharines Mayor Walter Sendzik among the many Niagara Region politicians hoping that Premier Doug Ford will lift the capacity restrictions and allow restaurants to get back quickly to full capacity.

“St Catharines is home to more than 550 restaurants that employ almost 4,000 people. These small business owners bring not only economic value, but also their talent, passion and uniqueness through their culinary craft,” said Sendzik.

“These businesses have chosen to make St. Catharines home and hearing about another business owner who has held on as long as they can and is faced with closing their restaurant is heartbreaking.”

As Sendzik points out, this week (October 18 to 24) is Small Business Week and as such, he believes the perfect time to lift restrictions “so restaurants can operate at full capacity.”

It is expected the Ford government will be making some announcement regarding the capacities of restaurants, bar and gym facilities this week.
