St Catharines offering $3/day bus passes on weekend this summer

Beginning this past weekend, families will be able to explore St. Catharines together on weekends with a newly discounted St. Catharines Transit all-day family pass.

The City has partnered with the St. Catharines Transit Commission to lower the cost of the pass to just $3 a day on weekends throughout the summer. Families of one or two adults, accompanied by up to three children can ride St. Catharines Transit buses to any destination in the city at the reduced rate.

“There is so much for residents to explore in our city, from a vibrant downtown to our beaches. The new price for the pass opens up those destinations to all families, including those without a car, providing a cost-effective alternative,” said CAO David Oakes.

The cooperative effort between the City and transit aims to reduce the carbon footprint of family trips to the local beaches, providing an alternative to busy parking spaces in those areas. In the spirit of inclusivity and accessibility, the family pass program was expanded to include any destination throughout the city.

“The Transit Commission welcomes the opportunity to work with the City to offer families this affordable, reliable transportation option regardless of the destination or outing. It’s a fantastic chance for families to learn more about our service, and all the places it can connect them with,” said Graham Morrison, St. Catharines Transit Commission General Manager.

The pass will be available on Saturdays and Sundays from May 7 to Sept. 4, 2022 exclusively through the Transit app prior to boarding. Find more information about the app at transitapp.com.
