A St. Catharines UFC flyweight fighter could be ranked very soon after an upset three-round victory over her #15-ranked opponent during UFC-289 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver on Saturday night (June 10).

Jasmine Jasudavicius, coming off a win over Gabriella Fernandes earlier this year, was 2-1 in the UFC to start the night, and was getting her first shot and potentially breaking into the division’s top 15.

Her ranked opponent, Miranda Maverick, would no doubt want to say something about that.

However, according to cagesidepress.com, St. Catharines’ Jasudavicius had the edge throughout the fight, scoring an unanimous 29-28 from the judges over three rounds, pushing her UFC record to 3-1.

While the first two rounds were even though with an slight edge to Jasudavicius, the third round saw her “with some huge shots landing at will against Maverick,” said the UFC site.

However, it got more lopsided when “Jasmine kept pouring it on to the end to end the round in dominant fashion.”

Concluded cagesidepress.com, “Miranda Maverick was never able to slow down the pace of Jasmine Jasudavicius, which led to a dominant victory for Jasmine on the judges scorecards. That was a huge win for Jasmine, and now it looks like she will find the rankings after that performance.”

St. Catharines Mayor Mat Siscoe jumped onto the victory quickly, posting, “Shout out to Jasmine Jasudavicius who just got another W at #UFC289! The hometown girl does good!!!”

Here’s the hometown fighter in her own words after the match.
