When Brock University students, faculty and staffers returned to the St Catharines campus on September 7, the post-secondary institution was hoping everyone would be fully vaccinated.

Of course, with students as young as 17 years old, it was more likely many would still be single-dosed and awaiting their second shot.

To that end, the post-secondary created a free rapid antigen screening program for those not fully protected from COVID-19.

Of course, the free tests are also there for those who have medical or human rights criteria and will be subject to ongoing rapid antigen screening.

Brock University is a member of the Creative Destruction Lab Rapid Screening Consortium, which is a private sector-led, not-for-profit initiative formed in August 2020.

The program uses the Abbott Panbio COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Nasal Test, which are available in boxes of 25 units – again at no charge to students, faculty and staff who qualify for the program.
