Thanksgiving Weekend sees 50 more cases of COVID-19 in Niagara Region

The Thanksgiving long weekend in the Niagara Region saw an extra helping of COVID-19 cases.
Saturday, October 9 saw 19 new cases, Sunday, October 10 had another 13 cases while Thanksgiving Monday added 18 more, adding 50 to the region over a three-day span.
However, with 33 cases resolved on October 11 alone, the region dropped to 202 existing cases, the lowest number Niagara has seen since August, before the Delta variant took hold.
So far, 13 per cent of Niagara’s cases have been identified as Delta while 87 per cent are “likely” to be.
St Catharines continues to be the caseload leader with 45 in total while Niagara Falls is not far behind with 37. Welland, Thorold, Grimsby and Fort Erie are next in line with 25, 21, 19 and 17 cases respectively.
The remaining six municipalities range from Pelham with two cases up to Wainfleet with eight.
