The Welland Jackfish of the Intercounty Baseball League is nothing but hot bats, stellar pitching and winning ways as the 2023 kicks off.

After starting the season with two straight losses, the Jackfish have now won 11 games-in-a-row to leave them on top of the IBL standings with an 11-2 record.

Only Toronto is within striking distance at this (very) early point, running up a 10-5 record so far.

This week will be a true test of the team’s ability to swim above the bottom feeders as they play four games in four night.

On June 22, they’ll play host to the Hamilton Cardinals (9-6) followed by a June 23 match in Brantford to play the Red Sox (2-13) at Arnold Anderson Park.

On June 24, it’s back in Welland Stadium to face the Barrie Baycats (8-5) before closing out the weekend in Toronto at Christie Pits to play the Maple Leafs.
