“This is not a scam,” Niagara police to text people waiting for help

If you recently called Niagara Regional Police from your cell phone, you shouldn’t be surprised if you receive a text acknowledging your call.
Today (June 13), police said they’re implementing a new system that will allow the service to notify cell phone callers about the status of their call.
The NRPS is implementing a new system that will allow us to notify those who've called from a cellphone about the status of their call.
If you've called 911, spoken with us, & receive this text message, it isn't a scam. Assistance will be arriving as soon as possible. pic.twitter.com/jDg5ho3nip

“If you’ve called 911, spoken with us, & receive this text message, it isn’t a scam. Assistance will be arriving as soon as possible,” police said in a tweet.
According to the tweet, callers will be notified when an officer has been dispatched to investigate their call.
Anyone who needs immediate assistance is urged to call 911 again.
