Thorold Community Market adds licensed patio with Niagara wineries and breweries

Largely at the thirsty requests of its own residents, Thorold is adding a licensed patio to its Thorold Community Market on Wednesday nights.
True to form, the patio, which will be called The Lock, will feature rotating Niagara wineries and breweries each week.
The new patio will launch tomorrow (Aug. 2) with two of the most solid Niagara-on-the-Lake market names – Marynissen Estates Winery and Niagara Oast House Brewers.
“Incorporating a licensed patio at the Thorold Community Market furthers the city of Thorold’s commitment to supporting and endorsing local businesses in our community,” says Thorold Mayor Terry Ugulini.
“We are fortunate to have so many incredible local wineries, breweries and growers in our beautiful Niagara region, and are thrilled to be able to showcase a selection of their remarkable offerings at our market each week.”
Inspired by the city’s recent designation of Lock 25 of the Second Welland Canal, The Lock will be located across from the bandshell on the east side of Battle of Beaverdams Park and will offer comfortable seating with an excellent view of the live music on stage each week.
However, despite the adult addition, there’s still lots of fun for the kids and parents alike at tomorrow’s event, which will feature a children’s magic show from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and a performance by the Thorold Reed Band from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Thorold CAO Manoj Dilwaria said thus far, the market has been a local success. “We are pleased to see the number of attendees grow alongside the market each week, and we look forward to the turnout as we launch The Lock patio this Wednesday.”
