Thorold set to host two-day Canada Day and Rock ‘N Blues on the Battlefield event

If you want to celebrate Canada Day with rock and blues music, you might want to head to Thorold.
The Niagara Region city recently announced that its two-day Canada Day and Rock ‘N Blues on the Battlefield event will kick off in the Battle of Beaverdams Park on July 1.
The event is free to attend.
According to the city, the July 1 portion will feature family-friendly entertainment for all ages. The festivities will start at noon, and the event will end with fireworks at 10 pm.
As far as music goes, attendees can check out performances by Dave Rave & the Midnight Men, Marty Allen Band, Vinyl Flux and Fireworks.
There will also be a musical performance by Thorold Theatre.
July 1 activities for kids include a bike rodeo contest, a magic show and appearances by Spiderman, Blippi, Rapunzel, the Little Mermaid and the Niagara River Lions mascot, Dunkin.
On July 2, music lovers can enjoy rock and blues music from 2 pm to 10:30 pm.
Performers include Riley Michaels, Red Dirt Revelators, Weber Brothers and MonkeyJunk. Attendees can also expect food trucks, a beer tent and a Kid’s Zone with face painting, balloon twisting and a bouncy slide.
The Kid’s Zone, food trucks and beer tent will be available on both days.
The city says the Battle of Beaverdams Park will be closed to the public from June 29 at 12 pm to July 1 at 12 pm and after the event from July 2 at 10:30 pm to July 4 at 9 am.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. Only service animals will be permitted at the event.
“We’re excited to be bringing our two-day Canada Day and Rock ‘N Blues on the Battlefield event back once again this July 1st and 2nd,” said Mayor Terry Ugulini in a statement.
“Featuring family-fun entertainment, food and drink vendors and live music that will pay homage to Thorold’s blues roots and more, this event truly has something for the whole family. We hope to see everyone out this weekend to celebrate Canada’s birthday!”
