A truck driver’s manifest said he was headed to Georgia, carrying a trailer full of waffles across the Peace Bridge from Fort Erie into Buffalo.

When American border agents searched his trailer on July 27, what they allegedly found instead was $2.5 million worth of marijuana.

Police charged a 22-year-old truck driver from Scarborough. Police say the accused has been linked to other fraudulent shipments.

If convicted, the driver faces a minimum of five years in jail and up to a $5 million fine.
