Police say a 54-year-old man from Rockwood, Ont. has been pronounced dead following a transport truck rollover in Fort Erie.
Shortly before 9 a.m. on Oct. 3, OPP said that a collision closed both the east and westbound lanes of the QEW between Netherby Road and Bowen Road.
Shortly after 1 p.m., an officer with the OPP Highway Safety Division said that the driver of the transport truck, which rolled over the centre median, was killed in the crash.
“Sadly, the driver of the transport has been pronounced deceased at [the] scene. The QEW is closed in both directions for investigation and clean-up. The closure is expected to remain for several more hours,” the OPP said in a post on social media.
In a video posted to X, an officer said the OPP are still investigating.
“That closure will remain in place for several hours due to the investigation and the clean up, as the transport truck’s contents have spilled out onto the highway. Please avoid the area if you can. Thank you,” the officer said.
