Twin brothers are facing charges after stolen alcohol and keys to construction equipment were discovered by police in Welland.

Niagara Regional Police say detectives have been investigating break-and-enter incidents at construction sites throughout the city since last month.

On Wednesday, detectives executed a search warrant at a home in the Niagara Street and Lancaster Drive area of Welland. Multiple bottles of alcohol that had reportedly been stolen as well as keys to heavy construction equipment were recovered.

Police say they arrested two brothers in connection with the incidents.

Steven Mamone, 29, and Jonathan Mamone, 29, both of Welland, face a number of charges including possession of stolen property, breaking and entering, and failing to comply with the conditions of their release.

The same men were arrested by Niagara police last month for other alleged thefts.

According to police, search warrants led to the discovery of stolen goods at an address in the Rolling Acres Drive and Champlain Avenue area. Police said they found 20 computers and multiple backpacks from Quaker Road Public School, as well as $50,000 worth of power tools from two construction sites.

At the time of that earlier arrest, Jonathan Mamone was also charged with failing to comply with a probation order.

The charges have not been proven in court.
