A teenage boy sustained life-threatening injuries and a man was less seriously hurt during a six-person fight in St. Catharines on Thursday night.
Niagara Regional Police say officers were called around 10:45 p.m. to the scene of a reported stabbing in the St. Paul Street West and Edith Street area. Two people were injured after “an altercation” involving six males broke out.
The fight escalated and three teenage boys allegedly stabbed a 46-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy, police said.
A nearby establishment took the victims in, providing aid until police arrived.
Police say the older victim’s injuries were minor, but the teen’s injuries were severe and he was transported to a hospital outside the region, where he is in stable condition.
Two 15-year-old boys and a 16-year-old male are facing charges in connection with the incident, including aggravated assault causing bodily harm.
All three were held in custody pending a Friday bail hearing.
