Two Scarborough men charged with weapons, drugs worth $149,000 in St. Catharines

Two Scarborough men are facing drug and weapons charges after two separate arrests spread over two nights in St. Catharines.

With an investigation that dates back to April, Niagara Police saw one suspect in the Niagara St.-Church St. area of St. Catharines on June 26. They immediately arrested him and found 365.8 grams of suspected cocaine, 90.8 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and 68 grams of suspected fentanyl on him with a street value of $149,820.

Abdul Bangura, 26,  of Scarborough was charged with three counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

He had a bail hearing on June 27 via video link to the courthouse in St. Catharines and has remained in custody.

On June 28th, detectives spotted another suspect in an SUV on Lake St. near Carlson and pulled him over. After searching the vehicle, they found one loaded 9mm handgun, 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 536.9 grams of suspected cocaine, and 69.9 grams of suspected fentanyl.  In addition, detectives recovered $987.55 believed to be crime cash.

Malcolm Cassells, 32, of Scarborough has been charged with six counts of weapons-related charges, two counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of crime cash under $5,000.

He has his bail hearing (June 29) via video link to the courthouse in St. Catharines and also remains in custody.
