Two youths suspected of Friday night stabbing in Welland

Police are investigating a stabbing that took place Friday night (Apr. 8) in Welland.

At approximately 11:00 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance in the area of Thorold Road and Rice Road, where an 18 year old male was found suffering from a stab wound.

The victim was transported to a local hospital by paramedics before being airlifted to an out-of-town trauma centre.

His condition has since been upgraded from critical to stable condition.

“Detectives have identified two youth suspects and arrest warrants are being prepared,” said police.

The suspects’ identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice act.

Police believe was a targeted incident and the victim and suspects are known to each other.
