A town in the Niagara region is warning residents not to consume gourmet coffee they might encounter on the ground.

Recently, the Town of Lincoln informed residents that several cases of Balzac’s coffee were found discarded at a few locations throughout the Beamsville area, including Mountainview Road near McLeod Street, Sann Road near South Service Road, Mountainview Road near South Service Road and Locust Lane near McLeod Street.

The town said that consuming the coffee could have health risks.

In a news release, town officials said they believe the cases originated from a truck that was stolen in Milton in February.

“We have learned that many of these boxes have already been picked up by local residents. Since the product has been outside the brand’s control for an extended period, it cannot be guaranteed that it has not been tampered with or that it is safe for consumption,” the town said.

“For your safety and the safety of others, please dispose of any coffee you may have picked up immediately.”

Anyone with a box of discarded coffee is urged to take photos and send them to [email protected] so they can be traced back to the reportedly stolen shipment.

Anyone with questions or concerns can also contact the town’s public works department at [email protected].
