The City of Niagara Falls says a water main break will close George Street for a significant portion of the day.

Today (Aug. 10), the city said the break, which will require “extensive restoration work” to repair, will necessitate the closure of George Street from Stanley Avenue to the dead end at the hydro canal.

The city says emergency access will remain available during the repair.

The closure and water interruption could last approximately eight to 10 hours.

The city also said temporary changes to water are expected.

“The water may be slightly discoloured and off-tasting after the interruption. This will disappear shortly after resuming use of the water. Running your cold water tap only, will help resolve the problem,” the city said on its website.
