A water main break at the Montrose Road and Rysdale Street area in Niagara Falls this morning (July 6) at about 9:45 am is expected to have access to the intersection and streets fully closed or reduced until well into this evening.

A City release said that “due to the extensive restoration work that must be undertaken to repair the water main, the Montrose/Rysdale intersection will be closed with no emergency access.”

It added the south-bound lanes on Montrose Road will be reduced to one lane from Rysdale Street to Wayne Street.

The City warned that all residents on Montrose Road between Rysdale Street and Wayne Street “will experience water interruptions.”

“The water may be slightly discolored and off tasting after the interruption,” said the City. “This will disappear shortly after resuming use of the water. Running your cold water tap only, will help resolve the problem.”

The City said closures, lane reductions and water interruptions have an expected duration of approximately 8 to 10 hours (or between 5:45 to 7:45 pm.)
