Weekend count is high as Niagara Region has 70 new COVID-19 cases

Niagara Region saw 70 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend (September 11-12), pushing the region up to 284 active cases.

All but less than one per cent of the existing cases are (or are likely to be) the Delta variant.

Niagara Falls continues to lead the case count with 88 while St Catharines has 71. Thorold is next with 30 cases.

The remainder of the region has case numbers in the teens or less. Welland accounts for 18 cases while Grimsby is recording 17. Pelham and Port Colborne both have 12 while Fort Erie has 11 while Niagara-on-the-Lake is registering 10.

Wainfleet remains the lowest municipality with two cases.
