A woman in Fort Erie suffered life-threatening injuries early Monday (Aug. 30) when she was hit by a driver, whom police are trying to find.

Niagara Regional Police Service says that about 7:30 a.m., a 67-year-old man was operating a black Chevrolet Silvarado pickup truck northbound on the Niagara River Parkway when he struck a 50-year-old woman who was walking on the east shoulder of the road. She was transported to an out-of-region hospital.

A NRPS media release omitted any mention of whether the driver of the Silverado stayed at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing by detectives with a collision reconstruction unit.

The Fort Erie Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services also responded to the call.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service, at 905-688-4111, ext. 1009137.
